The Passion Behind The Movement

Our Story

Let's Dance SP was founded by Alessia, a retired competitive International Latin dancer who channeled decades of elite training into the love of social dance. For the past ten years, we've been making world-class techniques accessible to everyone in a space where discipline and pure fun belong in the same room. Our passion centers on the infectious rhythms of Latin social dance and the soulful freedom of Swing and Jazz — and we believe dance is a conversation, not a routine. You don't just learn to move your feet, you learn to listen, connect, and share a moment with another person while gaining confidence in yourself. We are also proud to be a welcoming, inclusive space for everyone — including the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you want to dance socially, compete, perform, or create an unforgettable first dance for your wedding, there is a place for you here — no matter your age, background, or experience.

Our Team

Alessia

Founder/Head Instructor

Originally from Russia, Alessia has been dancing for over 35 years. She trained in Ballroom and Latin dance before graduating from a performance academy in Sweden, where she also studied ballet, jazz, modern dance, and the history of swing and jazz music.

In 2007 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a competitive career in International Latin dancing, eventually establishing Let's Dance SP in South Pasadena — a studio she has led with warmth and dedication for nearly a decade.

Alessia is captivated by the ability of social dance to spark connection through movement. That love for dance is at the heart of every class, performance, and wedding choreography she creates.

Ron Okubo

Assistant Instructor

Ron Okubo is a professional ballroom dancer and teacher with over 25 years of experience. Originally from Hawaii, Ron grew up competing in Tae Kwon Do — a background that shapes his reputation for precise, detailed, and clear instruction.

Having taught in Los Angeles for more than two decades, Ron has developed a deep love for the diversity of the LA dance scene. He brings together the history and spirit of social dance with the technical foundations of Ballroom and Latin — creating a teaching style that is both grounded and dynamic.

Above all, Ron loves partner dancing, and nothing drives him more than sharing that joy with others.
